Members of the family Ben Ali in Montreal

Canadian government sources have confirmed to CBC that the family members of fallen Tunisian President Ben Ali, arrived in Montreal on Thursday aboard a private plane.

According to reports, there were between 5 and 10 members of his family to board the aircraft. People were able to enter the country without a problem, because they already have permanent resident status.
"Some family members were already permanent residents and they have the right to be in Canada. Those who are not permanent residents, they must obtain a visa and it would frankly very difficult, "said Immigration Minister Jason Kenney.

The minister said the government was monitoring the situation closely and the government will not allow "to people who may be guilty of serious crimes to come to Canada. "
