The legendary composer John Barry, who signed including the soundtracks of numerous films in the franchise James Bond, died Jan. 30 in New York at age 77. He died of a heart attack.
Originally from Yorkshire, England, Barry had composed music for several films of the past decades. He is notably those of "Dances With Wolves, " "Out of Africa", "The Lion in Winter" and "Born Free", which earned him an Oscar.
Will be most remembered him as a composer of music for 11 films in the series "James Bond" including "Goldfinger, " "From Russia with Love"and "You Only Live Twice. "
Born John Barry Prendergast in 1933, his father owned theaters and his mother a classically trained pianist. Early in his career, Barry had founded the John Barry Seven before working with EMI.
His family announced his death in a statement. His friend and collaborator David Arnold has also paid tribute to Barry on Twitter.
He is survived by his wife Laurie, his four children and five grandchildren. At his death, Barry was living in the United States.
